Robin Goodfellow | Hello all. Help me understand what the "twin" syndrome is for the Gemini sign. I am a Gemini, born June 17 and I'm not aware of any multiple personality traits in me..oops maybe I should take it back and say that I actually might have multiple selves ..so what's a good way to recognize personal multiplicity in a Gemini person such as myself? Does the word "syndrome" mean anything in actuality? Do you recognize multiple personalities in Geminis? I am trying to form a proper question for this topic and its not coming to me. What is the metaphorical significance of the "twins"? |
starmoon | it has nothing to do with multiple personality, that is really ... well, maybe go read some basic astrology books and get a good grounding in the subject? the signs come from constellations in the sky, so the sign of gemini is actually linked to twins in the sky that can be seen. gemini is a mutable sign, unlike fixed and cardinal signs, so the mutability of the sign means it can adapt quite easily to changes in circumstances, people, themselves, etc. and are willing to take in information and change how they feel accordingly. the ability to adapt makes them sometimes known as "two people" because they are willing to switch their mind(s) if new information comes their way. |
EmGem | I had a discussion about this with my mum who has studied astrology. It might be a bit more in depth in that the psyche of a gemini seeks to become whole and transform two parts of itself. It's like we have become detached from this 'other' and that we need to find our twin and be united with it in this life in order to become whole. Accepting both parts. She had a very spiritual take on it. Personally, I can say I definitely experience this split in myself. Not only am I a gemini but I also have uranus conjunct my scorpio asc so I both want to merge with another and be free at the same time, often rebelling from having to conform. |

There ya go... Good example. We can be "of two minds" about things. |

Starmoon hit the nail on the coffin with this explanation. I think the Gemini energy is even stronger when mercury is placed there (Gemini) to as well. I can noticed right away when somebody's sign is in a different mercury placement with a Gemini sun sign. |

Imo,this can make you probe through information in a fast way,but also not miss anything. This has to be an interesting placement! I just read that this can make you very animated when you speak, but I think in your case it can make you listen more and observe more. Do you do this? Scan you spot undercurrents or when somebody's not telling the truth? A Gemini mercury can process information(and communicate it),but can miss everything at the same time. I think of it more like scanning the surface. I have a mercury in Gemini and I can learn things really fast, but also forget them just as fast. However, since my mercury is placed in the 9th house, this can make me not care about the little things! I think abroad, haha! |

Yes I observe and listen more than I speak and I'm not that animated >I guess my tendency is to be more reticent in my body language. I'm sure I spot "undercurrents" all the time I'm a Scorpio ascendant. Thank you. |
Randall | All the Gems I've known have had two sides. |

What were their two sides like Randall? You know I recall something from Linda Goodman where she stated that Aquarius has even more multiple personality traits than even Gemini. She implied it somewhere in her book ..I think from the Aqua/Gem chapter. You said "two sides" does this qualify/corellate with multiple personality?
|
Robin Goodfellow | I guess having two sides may indicate a 'split personality'. |
fairaqua | Him. I kind of see Gemini energy as a sort of "jack of all trades" I would call Aquarius "predictably unpredictable" |

Only two? You may not be looking closely enough... quote: Originally posted by fairaqua: Him. I kind of see Gemini energy as a sort of "jack of all trades"I would call Aquarius "predictably unpredictable"
Yes Gemini starts with a level of JoaT-Mental/Social. Virgo starts with JoaT as well, but they also include the traditional mechanical/electrical subset in their version. MacGiver was a Virgo. So were most of my coworkers at my last employer.
